Special Showing "Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany"— The Vietnam Women's Memorial Foundation and the Women in Military Service For America Memorial Foundation announce a special showing of the Emmy Award winning documentary Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany November 9th at 2 PM at the Women's Memorial. Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany features the personal stories of eight women who served as nurses in the Vietnam war. Their unwavering commitment to the care of dying and wounded soldiers, under fire and in the face of grave danger, is a true tale of American heroism. It also tells the story of development of a Memorial honoring these women on the National Mall opposite the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, The Wall.

This documentary was the Emmy winner for Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Editing at the 2007 Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards. Aired on WE tv and produced by Indianapolis-based Creative Street Entertainment, Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany was also one of four nominees for Outstanding Historical Programming.

This showing is free and open to be public and will include light refreshments. Because seating is limited, please contact the Women's Memorial to reserve your seat 800-222-2294, hq@womensmemorial.org.

We heard about the Donut Dollies through the Huey pilots who flew them, way back in 2001 when we were doing research for a documentary about a Huey's journey across America. When that journey finally lifted off years later, we met Red Cross Girls at Landing Zones around the nation. Intrigued by their story from the beginning, we soon grew enthralled with the women themselves. Spunky, vivacious, gutsy, funny, proud, and smart to a woman, the Vietnam Donut Dollies speak of their time at war with a sense of pride familiar to any soldier, marine, airman or sailor.

They were Kennedy kids "with a thirst for adventure and a desire to do something real." Their experience in Vietnam has affected each of them differently, but affected them all. This documentary captures their look back at war in their own words, with a rich collection of photos and home movies they took of the firebases and landing zones and base camps where they served.

You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll hear the story of your war from a woman's perspective in way you've never heard it told before. Please join us in meeting "the most remarkable women you'll ever meet" -- The Vietnam War's Red Cross Girls!

In honor of the 15th Anniversary of the Vietnam Women's Memorial, A Touch of Home will be available for sale on DVD through the In The Shadow of The Blade online store beginning Veterans Day, November 11.

Storytelling will pause at midday so all may attend the Veterans Day Ceremony at The Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Beginning around 2:15 PM, at the Vietnam Women's Memorial, Lana Mae Noone will present a Posthumous Heather Constance Noone Memorial Award. This award is presented to the American civilian and military women who died in the C5A plane crash in Vietnam on April 4th, 1975. The women died heroically while giving care to the children being evacuated during "Operation Babylift." Operation Babylift was undertaken to evacuate over 2,500 Vietnamese war orphans to adoptive families throughout the United States. With this award we pay homage to the brave women who gave their lives so that others might fulfill theirs. visit www.Vietnambabylift.org
